What is the MTN Media Innovation Program (MTN MIP)?

The MNT MIP is a six-week sponsored program by MTN Nigeria.

The Media Innovation Program is designed and facilitated by MTN and the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University.

It aims to enhance the continued professional development of participants in various aspects of media practice.

Keeping them knowledgeable and up-to-date with emerging technologies and building new approaches to solving problems in media practice.

The program thrives on the understanding that innovation drives change, and to stay ahead of the curve, we must keep learning and upgrading our skills.

The overarching goal of the MTN Media Innovation program is to enhance excellence in media practice for the benefit of humanity.

The program will offer structured learning and professional development opportunities to journalists and content creators in four critical areas:

1. Media Innovation 
2. Writing & Reporting 
3. The Telecoms industry 
4. Media Diplomacy 

What are the Benefits of participation?

1. Grasp the changing media landscape propelled by ICT, AI, and digital media. 
2. Enhance their writing and reporting skills. 
3. Develop a better understanding of MTN Corporate brand, strategic positioning, and alignment. 
4. Have a firsthand understanding of MTN Nigeria, its operations, and challenges through case studies and visits to its Nigerian office and its global Headquarters in South Africa. 
5. Gain a better understanding of how the ICT & Telecoms industry in Nigeria works and the role of MTN Nigeria in the mix. 
6. Be equipped to leverage existing legitimate means to monetize their skills in a fast-changing media landscape. 
7. Go on a study visit to the University of Johannesburg, Johannesburg, South Africa. 
8. Explore opportunities to leverage the media for diplomacy and cooperation in Africa. 
9. Stand a chance to win N1m on proven innovative ideas or outstanding reportage of the telecoms sector during the training

Training Date:

The 6-week program commences from 19 May 2025 to 24 October 2025.

We hope to work with Twenty (20) brilliant Nigerian journalists who scale through the selection.
