The film selection team is inviting all eligible  filmmakers to submit their films that for consideration in the 2026 8th Edition of the Joburg Film Festival.

This open call will run from:  Friday 29 August 2025 – to –  Friday 31 October 2025.

Selected films will be notified between 1 and 16 December 2025.

Criteria

• All films submitted must have been completed after September 2024
• Priority will be given to World and African Premiere
• Only African & African-Diaspora Filmmakers are eligible to submit through this platform.

• All genres will be accepted except for pornographic films
• If you haven’t received any correspondence from our curator by 16th December 2025, then your submission was unsuccessful.
